Solomon was the son of David and Bathsheba, and he succeeded David as king of Israel, ruling for about forty years in the middle of the tenth century BC. Solomon headed a large commercial empire, accumulating 700 wives; whom he loved (according to I Kings). Undoubtedly, many of Solomon's wives represented diplomatic alliances. He was famous for his wealth and wisdom and for building the Temple in Jerusalem. The poetic Song of Solomon is credited to him, as are the aphorisms in the book of Proverbs.

THE SONG OF SOLOMON

Do you want to love passionately, be loved in return, and see your love grow through the years? God desires these things for you as well…and in the Song of Solomon, He describes how you can experience them in a satisfying, lifelong relationship.

"For many people, the Song of Solomon is the mystery book of the Bible". Tucked among the books of the Bible in the section called the Wisdom Literature, the Song of Solomon has the distinction of being the only book of the Bible that seems to have been edited and censored by the Christian church. Most Christians don’t read it, don’t understand it, and have never heard a sermon about it."

The Queen of Sheba

Throughout the ages, the legendary Queen of Sheba has evoked images of beauty, wealth and power. Few women in history have captured our imaginations so strikingly, yet cloaked themselves in such mystery.

We see that from their first meeting, a passionate fire builds between the Song of Solomon lovers and that fire is maintained throughout their relationship; Further, we see that there is something divine in their union….

"Make haste, my beloved, and be thou like to a roe or to a young hart upon the mountains of spices".

This is a story of Solomon and his bride/.. SONG OF SOLOMON MAIN TEXT

THE WISDOM OF SOLOMON

The Wisdom of Solomon was included in the ancient Greek edition of the Old Testament called the Septuagint; And Greek fragments were found in the Essene library at Qumran in Palestine. This Greek text was not only widely used by Jews but was known as well by numerous "God-fearing" Gentiles who were attracted to the high moral teachings of the Old Testament, even though they had not themselves become converts to Judaism. One can thus readily understand how and why early Christianity, as it spread among Greek-speaking Jews and Gentiles, employed this Greek text. In fact, the majority of Old Testament quotations in the New Testament are based on this (the Septuagint) translation.

"For Wisdom, which is the worker of all things, taught me: for in Her is an understanding, Spirit Holy, one only, manifold, subtil, lively, clear, undefiled, plain, not subject to hurt, loving the thing that is good, quick, which cannot be letted, ready to do good," ..Wisdom 7:22 .......... She is the brightness that streams from everlasting light, the flawless mirror of the active power of Deity, and the image of goodness. She is but one, yet can do everything; Herself unchanging, She makes all things new; age after age She enters into holy souls, and makes them Deity's friends and prophets...." Wisdom of Solomon 7:27
